I’m Making a List and Checking It Twice…

So, Tennessee courts recently overturned the so-called ‘guns in bars’ law on the grounds that said law was embarrassing unconstitutional. Got a buddy/relative/cat groomer who is totally bummed out over this? Then I have the perfect gift idea for you:

I just thought I should point out that in the majority of the U.S. it is legal to carry in bars / restaurants that serve alcohol. Despite this there doesn’t appear to be a problem with the lack of any restriction in those other states.

The anti-gun hysteria over TN and AZ recently allowing what has been legal for most of the country for years is actually amusing. Sad, but amusing nonetheless. It’s still illegal for those who are carrying in both states to drink while at said bar/restaurant (as it was before the law changed) In some states (Indiana & my home state of DE for example) it is not illegal to drink while carrying, so long as you are not over the legal BAC to drive yet the lack of a prohibition has not been a source of problems. (No scourge of CCW holders getting hammered and shooting up bars…..)

When you think about it, many, if not most places you go out to eat do serve alcohol. Why should someone be prohibited from carrying while out to dinner with him family at an Applebees? Heck, there are some bars around here that have awesome food. And of course if you go somewhere unfamiliar it’s not always obvious that a particular place serves booze. The moment you walk in you’re a criminal without even knowing it.
