How about instead of pot pie, do a Sheppard’s Pie. Add a little accent such as burgundied beef with rustic cut turnips, carrots, shallots and potatoes. Top it off with garlic chive potato crust.

….or is that being too specific?

I’m with Pappy T and please post a recipe! That sounds like a great Sunday Funday dinner. My mouth is watering right now!

If by specific, you mean delicious! That is a really good idea. If pot pie wins, I think I will do as Pappy T suggests…

Shepherd’s Pie sounds great! I voted for the Pasty because it’s as close to that as the Pot Pie. Sorry Rob, I know you wanted Quiche, but man, with this autumnal weather, I just can’t stop thinking about hearty fare like that. Plus, it makes me think fondly of Mineral Point!

Aren’t pot pies the international comfort food? I have had variations in Australia, Germany, Czech Republic, and (of course) here in the US. I would love to see the TN version!

Shepherd’s Pie … what did that shepherd do to you? Cannibals.

Seriously, I’m pro-quiche b/c SFL hasn’t made a quiche in a loong time. My belly has been the fortunate recipient of her wonderful pot pies (turkey is the best!) and cornish pasties … but I needs me some quiche!

As well you should, Rob. As well you should.

I can see this system is already corrupt. If Double R is going to get his pick every time, then as Jesse Jackson says, “The question is moot.”

    I demand a recount!

Huffymofo presents a good idea on the ‘international comfort food’ idea. I went through a kick a couple of years ago where I made as many different ethnic versions of the pot pie as I could think up. Basically, a meat and veg/potato mix in a pastry. I did kolaches, pot pie, pasties, stromboli, etc. I think that come our first REAL fall-ish weekend, the Demand-A-Dish should feature meat and pastry comfort things. So let me know what special ethnic versions of this you can think of – and what different things you would like to see it them. Lamb, beef, seitan, etc.
